CDR Sample for Production Engineer

Due to the large number of production engineer demand in Australia, the number of engineers aspiring for skilled migration to Australia also increased. Therefore we build a CDR (Competency Demonstration Report) sample for production engineers to support them with Engineers Australia migration skills assessment.

Project: Design of Production Wells

The author make clear that The overall aims of this project was to develop The curtin Offshore Field by using skills learned in the unit. Curtin offshore field consist two main reservoir J16 and J18 with top true vertical depth subsea(TVSS) 4180ft and 4330ft respectively. Lithology of this reservoirs was consolidated and well sorted sand stone so this reservoirs had higher porosity and permeability. These reservoirs had minimum clay content which increase towards top of the reservoirs. His roles and responsibilities were:

  1. ⭐Making simulation model
  2. ⭐Doing calculation to choose correct casings and tubing size
  3. ⭐Reporting the progress of the project to Dr. Moffazal every week and recording into log book
  4. ⭐Communicating the findings with Rui every week
  5. ⭐Giving the presentation front of department staffs
  6. ⭐Providing two pages of extended summary report

Project: Designing & Optimization of an Ammonia Production Plant

The project “Designing & Optimization of an Ammonia Production Plant” was done by the author during his study at Curtin University, Bently, Western Australia, Australia. He explains that the overall aims of this project was to develop Simulation model for production of Ammonia from the sysn gas by using skills learned in the unit. He played the following roles to discharge his responsibilities:

  1. ⭐Developing simulation model using ASPEN Hysys software
  2. ⭐Optimising the production plant for desired production at least cost
  3. ⭐Optimising the production plant in terms of energy saving
  4. ⭐Reporting project progress to the supervisor weekly and recording evidence in the logbook
  5. ⭐Communicating simulation findings with the group member every week
  6. ⭐Conducting comprehensive research and reading reference books to learn advanced software skills
  7. ⭐Making engineering assumptions regarding feed temperature, pressure, and pressure drops
  8. ⭐Employing case studies to iterate variables for selecting the correct PFR tube diameter
  9. ⭐Calculating the optimal number of reactor tubes using inner and outer area dimensions
  10. ⭐Introducing a recycle stream to increase the process conversion rate

Project: The Design of a Three Phase Separator for Crude Oil Processing Plant

The author completed the project “The Design  a Three Phase Separator for Crude Oil Processing Plant” successfully Between July 2015 till November 2015 as part of assessment. He was assigned the following responsibilities:

  1. ⭐Designing low-temperature three-phase separator to separate water, gas, and oil
  2. ⭐Calculating internal diameter of separator using vertical terminal vapour velocity principles
  3. ⭐Determining liquid holding area and settling area using historical design theories
  4. ⭐Deciding retention times for both light and heavy liquid phases to ensure equilibrium
  5. ⭐Calculating surge height and total vessel height using established processing methods
  6. ⭐Conducting detailed research through oilfield processing textbooks, journal articles, and research papers
  7. ⭐Consulting with specialist lecturers to choose correct separator type according to crude oil properties
  8. ⭐Arranging meetings with a mechanical engineering professor to understand advanced mechanical terms
  9. ⭐Selecting standard AISI 1065 Carbon Steel material based on safety, cost, and mechanical properties
  10. ⭐Calculating minimum vessel thickness including an extra allowance for environmental corrosion
  11. ⭐Determining vessel dead weight and dead weight stresses using Sinnott’s engineering theories
  12. ⭐Calculating total axial stress and total shear stress acting on the separator vessel
  13. ⭐Designing skirt support system thickness to withstand wind and dead-weight loadings
  14. ⭐Deciding correct line sizing, project planning, and scheduling with other group members
  15. ⭐Documenting all project proceedings, meeting minutes, and progress evidence using MS Office programs
  16. ⭐Delivering a group PowerPoint presentation followed by a five-minute question and answer session
